See the incredible shot below...

Ever witnessed a once-in-a-lifetime deer drama? Russ Wright did, right on his property in the M.D. of Foothills, south of Calgary! He spotted two male deer locked antler-to-antler, one fixed over the other. Something was off. 🦌

Wright quickly contacted Alberta Fish and Wildlife, welcoming Sgt. Scott Kallweit - a sharpshooter with an eagle eye and nerves of steel. One single shot, expertly placed, and the deer were free and unharmed, galloping off into the wilderness! ❄️

"If the deer were unable to separate from one another, there was a risk one or both animals die from exhaustion or other injuries." -Sgt. Scott Kallweit

Wright, a local taxidermist and an avid hunter, was ecstatic to see the two bucks make it, especially outside the breeding season when such antler clashes are rare.

Kallweit's one-shot rescue might be routine for him, but for Wright and those lucky deer, it was a day to remember. Kallweit kept the antler as a souvenir, the deer did not ask for it back. The video captures a thrilling capture of this truly wild shot. 🎥

Hey there, gunslingers! Get ready, 'cause we're blasting through time on a wild, smoky trail of American firearm history. Ready? It's time for a short history of firearms, let's roll!

First things first: gunpowder. Back in the 9th century, the Chinese accidentally invented it while trying to mix up an immortality elixir. Fast forward a few centuries, and these early firecrackers evolved into basic handheld cannons. Nifty, right? But we’re not here for an Eastern history lesson, so let's fast forward to where things really start kickin'.

Land ho! We've arrived in the 19th century. The 'wild west' of gun tech, and it's here we find our legendary cowboy, Samuel Colt. He takes the stage, brandishing the first effective revolver. Quick on the draw and reliable as the rising sun, this six-shooter sparked a revolution.

Soon after, metallic cartridges made their way onto the scene. Swapping out clunky old cap-and-ball, these shiny new toys turned reloading from a chore into a breeze. Imagine popping in a new round faster than you could say "howdy" - that was the power of the cartridge, partner.

As we thunder into the late 19th and early 20th centuries, automatic firepower steps into the saloon. Hiram Maxim, the brains behind the operation, unveiled the Maxim Gun - the first self-powered machine gun. Suddenly, we were in a whole new ballgame.

Finally, we mosey on into the 20th century where semi-automatic and automatic rifles are now the law of the land. Innovations didn't just stop at the guns themselves - oh no, ammunition saw its fair share of revolution too, turning firearms into some of the most reliable tools around!

Well, that's the long and short of it, folks. We’ve blazed a trail from humble beginnings to the modern marvels of today, and what a ride it's been! Remember, whether it's a revolver, a rifle, or a machine gun, respect its power and always practice safe handling. Y'all keep your barrels clean and your sights clear, hear? Until next time!

Thanks for letting Contente Firearms & Supply give you a quick rundown on some of the highlights of Firearm history. Stay tuned until next time.
